13 Year Old Injured By Chicago Police Office In Hit And Run Accident

According to mainstream media reports, an off duty Chicago police officer charged with the hit and run of a 13 year old bicyclist has posted bail after the judge reduced the bail amount from $2 million to $1 million.

The officer identified as Richard Bolling was charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a car accident, after striking the 8th grade bicyclist in the early hours of May 22nd. Family members of the teen identified as Trenton Booker said the teen had snuck out with a friend after the parents retired for the evening.

As it now stands, the various local prosecutors have been trying to find out if there was any type of unfair treatment (in a positive sense of course) by the authorities here, as it looked, at least initially, a bit suspicious that they failed to give him a a Breathalyzer or any other kind of alcohol level type of test until several hours foloowing the car accident in question. When they finally did get around to doing this, the said test when returned registered a 0.079 which is just under the legal limit of 0.08. The suspect was given a blood draw after 8 odd hours and according to police this was the amount of time it took them to convince Bolling to submit to the alcohol testing. Prosecutors have stated it will not hurt their case, since he will still need attorneys to be certain and they can estimate his actual levels.

All in all, he is a seventeen-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department and is also the son of a retired police commander. He was held in the Cook County Jail until his bail was posted and at the request of the courthouse his passport was given to officials.
